The wizards at Evergen have installed our Intelligent Control in your solar battery. Just like magic, this software helps you save money and stay on top of your energy bills by optimising the performance of your system. It also enables you to sell your excess solar power with all the upside of the open energy market – you get 100% of the revenue generated.

Now here’s where the fun begins!

Below you will find some of the screens in your app. Let us take you through what it all means.

The Help button directs you to Evergen’s support team directly.

Have you tried searching the Evergen’s library for additional  online support?

2

We focus on savings goals to help you keep motivated – so it makes sense to inform you of your progress for this billing cycle in the first screen of the app.

3

Powerflow shows you how much power your system is generating and where you are using it in real time.

It functions as an intuitive map of which sources your home is using (grid, solar PV and/or battery) and how they interact.

4

Performance gathers historical data from your system – by month, week, day, or even hourly!

5

Profile allows you to change your settings, see the location of the battery, update your bill information and goals.

6

The about section of the app. From there you can see your app’s version, review the app, visit Evergen’s website, or view the on-boarding walk-through again.

7

Our software optimises your energy usage through 42 different points of data. Here’s one of them – the weather.

8

The % of charge in your battery.

If your battery is currently charging, you will see this:

9

It’s a date! Today’s to be more specific.

10

Your current billing cycle. This is important because your goals, savings, usage, solar generation and everything else will be measured against it.

11

You decide on the savings goal you want to achieve for this cycle.

You can see all active goals and update them by tapping on the circle graph. You should see a screen like the below:

Remember that you can update your goals at any time. You choose how aggressive or conservative you want your savings to be.

12

By optimising the way your solar battery operates, you are making quantifiable savings in your electricity usage.

These are not credits in your bill from your feed-in, but actual money you can keep in your pocket for the things that matter to you.

Some examples of situations that generate savings for you:

  • Your battery pre-charges from the grid using off-peak rates, due to low solar day ahead
  • Keep the charge of your battery and meet the load of your home using off-peak rates, ahead of forecasted usage, which otherwise would be paid at peak tariffs
13

The circle is a graphical representation of how far along you are of reaching your goal for this billing cycle.

Tap the circle to show any active goals for the current billing cycle:

This screen will also provide you with a prediction of how you are tracking for the end of the billing cycle.

Press on update my goals at the bottom to change them at any point.

14

Depending on how you’re tracking with the current savings goal of the period, the app will display different messages accordingly.

15

Energy saving tips will pop up here. They are a good reference point of things to do at home to stay on top of your bills.

1

This is the % of energy that you have self-consumed from your solar battery. In other words, the % of energy you have not consumed from the grid.

The higher this number, the more you’re saving in your bill!

2

Depending on how much energy your solar PV is generating, you will see intuitive messages here of how you are tracking to achieve your goals in this current billing cycle.

1

Your current house load – this is a sum of all the electrical consumption of your home’s fixtures and appliances.

An average Aussie home consumes ~18kW of electricity per day, but that will depend on a large number of factors, like:

  • If you use electricity, gas or both
  • The weather conditions
  • Number of people at home
  • Among many others
2

The kW of electricity being produced by your solar panels.

If your solar panels are currently charging your battery, you will see a relationship between the leftmost and middle circles:

3

The current status of your battery will show up here.

Remember that with Members Energy, your battery will always maintain a minimum of 20% storage capacity for your usage.

4

This will show you how much power is being exchanged with the grid.

“Feeding-in” means that you have excess solar being sold to the grid. Your minimum feed-in tariff is guaranteed; however, you will benefit by receiving 100% of the profits generated when the spot price is higher.

The grid icon can also be greyed out when you’re virtually off-grid – when there is no exchange with the grid:

Last but not least, you will buy power from the grid when you need it. Our Intelligent Control may buy off-peak power from the grid even when there is charge in your battery. This helps you save money by keeping your battery’s charge and using it when power prices go up.

5

Time that you can rely upon your solar battery alone for power, at the current house load and battery charge. Capacity usage will vary depending on how these factors change.

Bear in mind different solar battery models have different continuous peak output capacities, which means there is a hardware limit to how much of the stored power you can use at once.

6

A summary of statistics compiling:

  • The total power generated by your solar PV system
  • The sum of the period’s electrical consumption (or house load)
  • The solar excess power sold to the grid (or feed-in)
  • The total grid consumption

You can get visibility of these stats for 3 periods: today, within the current billing cycle, and since the battery system was first commissioned with Evergen (all time). Slide right to access them.
